The San Gabriel Valley derives its name from the San Gabriel River and Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, founded by Franciscan Father Junipero Serra on September 8, 1771. Originally home to the Tongva people, the valley developed from agricultural land into an urbanized metropolitan region that now encompasses Pasadena, Alhambra, Arcadia, Baldwin Park, Covina, El Monte, Glendora, Monrovia, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, West Covina, and 21 other incorporated cities. The valley extends from the San Gabriel Mountains in the north to the Puente Hills in the south.

Today, San Gabriel Valley is recognized as one of the most ethnically diverse regions in the United States. It is home to major institutions including Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, hosts the Tournament of Roses Parade, and contains numerous cultural, educational, and commercial landmarks integral to Greater Los Angeles. The economic and social diversity of the valley makes it a dynamic place for work, education, and family life.

For families in El Monte, being part of San Gabriel Valley means access to diverse employers, schools, and opportunities—and it also means shared challenges. The valley's households face similar costs and responsibilities across zip codes: mortgages that span decades, children's education to fund, and dreams to protect. Term life insurance lets each family in El Monte—and across the valley—secure those dreams by matching coverage to the real obligations that matter most.
